Weekly Deck Discussion : The Monarch(y) Stormforth

Welcome to Garaito's Realm! Here you can get information related to the tournament decklist, either the winner or the most unique deck from all over Indonesia. And also a little opinion about the deck which is the topic of the day. Without much ado, here we go ~!           

In this session, I will discuss about decks with the same type and theme that toppings in the same week as well. Talking about being the top, of course, it is not only the 1st place, but also the top 4 in a tournament.

Introduced in a deck structure in 2007 as Structure Deck : Advent of the Emperor, Monarch became a deck to be feared with D.D. in its day, Macro Monarch. With a combination of Macro Cosmos and the ability of D.D. Monster Cards who can return to the field when banished, they become a good fodder for the Monarchs who have a very large level, and also maintaining the field presence.

Reintroduced again as Structure Deck R : Advent of the True Monarch in 2015, this time they were reinforced with new Monarch monsters. Even better, despite having a large level, this new reinforcement could be summoned with only 1 monster that had been summoned through the Tribute Summon. The Field Spell Card also helps reduce the monarch level by 2 stars itself such as Cost Down, it's just that for monsters with ATK 2800 and DEF 1000 which of course can only be used for Monarch monsters with level 8 and above.

With the YuGiOh! metagame which rely on Extra Deck and if you are the type of player who likes to bring few number of Trap Cards, bringing Monarch as the deck is the best choice. Besides that, this deck is also very budget because it does not require Extra Deck as one of the game strategies, plus some of the effects and abilities of their cards require 0 Extra Decks to be functioned properly. As exemplified by duelist Nabil Achmad and duelist Ricky Kho. Their decklist did not carry any Monster Cards from Extra Deck.

Duelist Nabil Achmad chose to combine Monarch with True Draco. What the two have in commons is they rely on Tribute Summon as a way of summoning, so it does not hinder the ability of Domain of True Monarch, and The Monarch Erupt to work properly. Dragonic Diagram can lure the opponent's Ash Blossom and Joyous Spring, so that the activation of Edea the Heavenly Squire can resolve without breaking a sweat. And also the synergy between Monarch and True Draco can be found in Ignis Heat, the True Draco Warrior, because of his ATK and DEF stats is matched to be summoned by Ehther the Heavenly Monarch.

Unlike the duelist Nabil, duelist Ricky Kho chose to go for pure Monarch and won the Batam Community of Duelist tournament on May 15, 2021. Some unique tech he brings Uncamouflight which can destroys himself but gives a 1-card draw. And also if this card is on the Extra Deck, he can summon himself to the field and become a tribute fodder for Monarch monsters. Full control, he also bring Vanity Fiend to prevent his opponent to do any Special Summon, and using effect by summoning Vanity Ruler.
